Zuko (Left) and Aang's (Right) character arcs for Book Three: Fire
After joining his sister, Zuko still isn’t happy and he is angrier than ever. When asked who he is angry at he first says he doesn’t know, but then realizes he is angry at himself. He is confused because he does not know the difference between right and wrong and is doubtful of himself.

The world believes the Avatar is dead again. Aang almost gives up and drowns in the ocean during a storm, but he's motivated by the spirits of Avatar Roku and the Moon Spirit, Yue.

Zuko visits Iroh in prison and finds out his mom’s grandfather was Avatar Roku. Iroh says that he alone can cleanse the sins of his father’s family and restore balance.

Zuko says that he thought that he lost his honor and that his father could give it to him, but now he knows that he has to earn it by choosing to do something right. So, he chooses to restore balance to the world by joining Aang and becoming his fire bending teacher.

Team Avatar shares their final remarks to eachother before battle. Katara admits Aang has grown so much on their journey. Aang kisses her and confidently snaps his glider and flies away.

Aang and Zuko learn of the origin of firebending together. Energy and life fuel firebending rather than destruction, which allows Aang to firebend for the first time since he hurt Katara.

Zuko’s honor is finally restored. Aang and Zuko are friends and will rebuild the world together. Zuko ends by saying the war is finally over and the honor of the fire nation will be restored with a new era of love and peace. He is then crowned Fire Lord.

Aang meets with the Lion Turtle since he cannot justify killing Fire Lord Ozai. He learns how to take away bending, which he uses on Ozai to spare his life, end the war, and restore balance to the world.
